Disney Channel With Twins That Can Travel Thgrough Time

Silly
The Magic Kingdom must be thirsting for premises on which to base their latest bubblegum teen shows. Best Friends Whenever is just plain silly that not even some of the lower digit age viewers find this appealing other than the attractiveness of the cast.
Which is always a prerequisite for a Disney teen comedy as the people on it do become role models for Middle America. In this case its Lauren Taylor and Landry Bender. Bender's parents have gone off on a scientific expedition to South America and she's come to live with her BFF and the BFF's family. Which include a nerdy brother into science played by Gus Kamp and two annoying younger twins Matthew and Benjamin Royer. I haven't seen the Disney Studios have kids that annoying since Kevin Corcoran when I was that age.
Anyway while messing with one of Kamp's experiments they're zapped and all of a sudden time travel into their future. They enter the bodies they have in the future and are conscious of what is happening. Of course being teen girls they use it to chart their love life for the most part if I can judge by what I've seen.
I thought Zendaye's new show was silly, but this one makes it look like something Laurette Taylor might have done.

This could've been good.
I love the concept of time travel. So many different shows and movies use it in so many creative and interesting ways. There are endless possibilities. All you need is a competent writer and some established rules. This show fails on so many levels.
The Time Travel - There is no consistency to what the main characters can do and what their actions will do. There are a few rules, but they are often ignored in favor of some random gag.
The Comedy - This show really fails here. Before I go into how bad most of the humor is, I will admit that there are a few gags that I remember working. In one episode they go into the future and everyone has iPhones that are the size of iPads, which was pretty funny. There were a lot of other sight gags there as well. They don't work anymore because I'm pretty sure that episode took place in 2018 and its now 2018 and the hoverboard is dead and phones aren't that big yet. Its like how Back To The Future II's prediction on what 2015 was going to be like was vastly different from reality, but it was still kinda funny. There's another gag where the main characters keep jumping back and forth through time so that the one girl can roast some other person in class. Basically they work out the best responses through time travel and its actually pretty funny. Other than those and a few other gags that usually sacrifice the show's own logic, most of the humor is pretty lame and over-reliant on random s*** happening. A giant cake falling down some stairs between every scene is not a joke. A lama out of nowhere is not a joke. Except for very few scenes, the writers clearly don't understand comedy and think that random things happening and references are jokes. There are a lot of gags that would've worked better if the show had more rules, if they didn't go on too long, and if the acting was better. Also, I think that this show was over-reliant on internet culture - which changes pretty much every month at the longest. Unless your show is made in a week and specifically comments on current events, like South Park, its probably not a good idea to put memes in your show.
The Acting - The acting on this show is pretty bad, which isn't helped by the poor script. These characters are so melodramatic and cringeworthy its hard to care about any of them. There are some interesting aspects but nothing is done with them.
The Sets - Thought there are a few sets that are used multiple times, like most sit-coms of this type, they actually have a very good design. Everything here looks nice, though you can tell it is cheap. Its clear where the budget went. Honestly, I would've preferred it if the story made sense but the sets were terrible. That would've been far more entertaining.
This show really could've worked with a better director and a better writer.

Good Disney show for its era
Although it is not as good as the og disney channel shows, I do actually like this show. I feel as though this show is underrated and I would recommend watching it.

Good Story Line, but Poor Actors and Editing
Warning: Spoilers
This show has a really good storyline that is ruined because of poor acting. The way the show is edited and put together is very fake and childish. Mostly all the shows on the Disney Channel, for some reason, are this way, even though they are just like YTV shows in their plots and types of settings. Somehow, most of the actors on Disney channel do a very bad job, including the main actors. In this show, Shelby is an extremely bad choice to partner with the other girl, who is a much better actor. The idea of time travel could have been expanded a lot, but because the editing is so poor, it seems very lame. This is the case with mostly every show on this channel, again, strangely enough. Characters do not have a depth that explains them well. Jokes are also lame.

Lots of fun!
I'm tempted to give this a 10 just to offset all the people giving it a 1.
I mean... a 1? Sorry. A 1 is not a rational reaction. That's saying this is the WORST thing you've ever seen. That's crazy. That's deep emotional trigger stuff.
This is an upbeat, nice show about friends loving each other, solving various friend crises with honesty and compassion, and having silly adventures together. The over the top gag writing is clever and amusing. It certainly isn't bad, and CERTAINLY no worse than I've seen elsewhere. All in all, this show is well meaning and fun.
Now.., WHY does that upset some people so much? Touched a nerve, did it? I think it did!
I know several teen girls who really enjoy Best Friends Whenever, but if they read the reviews here might double think that. What an ugly thing to do. Because, heavens, we can't have young women absorbing positive messages about friendship. Girls are supposed to hate each other! Don't you know that? I think some of that negative advertising which saturates our culture, that horrid stuff which strives to make girls despise themselves and mistrust others, to not reach out to form nourishing bonds with others, has poisoned too many people here.
If you're knee jerking into hating this sweet and friendly program, then maybe you need to pause long enough to examine WHY you're reacting that way!
Seriously! What is WRONG with you??
So, enjoy this fun little show. Ignore the trolls. Love your friends.

Awful!
This show is laughably bad. With block of wood acting, crappy writing, cheap effects, over the top clichés, and overall uncreative and terrible production, this show is just another uninjoyable bottom of the barrel Disney show like: Shake it up, Austin and Ally, Dog with a Blog, Liv and Maddie, and Jessie. All of those shows are made by a cruddy studio that Disney hired called Dipthong Studios (which I'm not kidding is its name), and I wasn't surprised was given credit at the end of the episode. Disney really has to stop throwing crap like this out there, and seriously step up its game. The same people who approved masterpieces like Toy Story , and Up, makes me sad when they make tiny child demographic crap like Frozen and this. Disney has done stories with believable characters and interesting plot lines, not recycled scripts from other failed Disney shows. Now, what does this show have to offer? Well, good messages for children? (Errr) No. Decent plot lines? (Err) No. Writing and production that doesn't hit the lowest common denominator (Eerrrrrr) No! Developed ,3 dimensional, and interesting characters? Yes! Ha! No! They must have fired every single writer that had things like that to offer before the first Disney show ever came out. I highly suggest that no one should watch this show and Disney's entire TV plan be reconsidered. This show does not send a good message to children and is just another Disney ploy to get you to buy its merchandise. Instead of watching this just toss a good ol' classic with a good message like Toy Story in the Blu -Ray , or read a book like James and the Giant Peach.

A entertaining but weak TV series with nothing to give out to audiences
Warning: Spoilers
Best Friends Whenever starts off with the two best friends, Cyd and Shelby, accidentally got zapped with some kind of taser-machine and find out they have the capability to time-travel to time periods that they choose to.
The first episode went to a good start to the series but as it continued, each plot of each episodes were going a bit weak and not very understandable, leading to the point where it unknowingly duplicates some of the jokes from previous Disney Channel TV Series. I would say the series is far better than Stuck in the Middle but it isn't. The characters weren't properly introduced, the jokes were extremely weak that the laughter was used frequently, even when it isn't funny but I will say that the visual effects has greatly improved and seemed realistic compared to other DC TV series.
Not a great TV series but not a bad one.

The future is about to again be complimented, tweaked, edited, and rewritten...this time- By two somewhat silly gals who are bound by a host of some Sci-Fi fall out And it all gave become able to. time travel. The future will never be the same!Shelby and Cyd are involved but not concerned, considerate but somewhat less than conscientious . They are fun loving lovable party animals who have the power of powers . ..that of influence over the course of history. That's some butterfly effect.Look out tomorrow here come laughing out loud, Oh My GOD, irrepressible coast to coast irresponsibility .

One of the best Disney has done
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show and all the characters. I love the concept/idea, and the age of the characters are teenagers; what teenager doesn't love a show about two teens in high school who can time-travel after a friend's science experiment goes awry? I don't care if it's not funny, 'cause I don't need funny to enjoy it. Plus, some scenes and lines were funny, so it's not without its comedy.
It would make me happy, though, if episodes were biweekly instead of monthly.
I wish Disney would make more teen sci-fi shows! "Phil of the Future" was well-loved, but it was canceled after 2 seasons; perhaps they can make a spin off/sequel that deals with another family who traveled to the 21st century? In the magic part, perhaps they can continue "Wizards of Waverly Place" with a spin off show that deals with a wizard family in the wizard world? PLEASE, Disney, read my review here!

Could've been so good
Warning: Spoilers
The first time I watched this, I thought it was okay. It had good effects and realistic characters. The things that the girls accuse each other of are valid points about each other, so it also seemed more self aware. It was also an original idea for a Disney sitcom. I was looking forward to seeing where this goes.
The series got bad quickly. I found the brothers kinda annoying in the first episode, but it's not like they were in it that much, so I didn't complain that much. But now they're in the episodes way too much and are even more annoying. They're totally unnecessary characters.
Also, how did Shelby not realize her dad worked for Globo-Digi-Dyne? They even bring this up, but still don't explain it. Pointing out your plot holes doesn't make them go away.
This show had so much potential and it ended up being a mess.

Give it a try
Actually not a bad show. One of the better Disney shows in my opinion anyway. It's funny at times, interesting, and quite entertaining. Its mostly targeted at 7 - 14 years old so the humor may be bland to those older than that age range. I think the characters are quite interesting, and the show seems to get better as it progresses. It's not for everyone, that's for sure, but give it a try.
Sure, this show isn't perfect. There are plot holes, but then again, most of its viewers won't recognize it unless they do a detailed inspection of the show, which most people won't do. The thing about the humor is that it's kind of subjective. I find some parts hilarious, and my friend may find it boring. It depends on your sense of humor, really.
Also, to all those saying that they should use their time traveling ability for more creative things like watching dinosaurs or going into 3080, remember that this is Disney, not some high-budget Jurassic movie. They obviously can't afford to go all out with each episode. The reason why Mr. Peabody and Sherman have all those cool things is because its ANIMATION, and it's much easier to incorporate dinosaurs into animation than in a real-life Disney show.

The most rubbish acting I've seen in my life
This show has the most ridiculous acting I've ever seen, rendering it juvenile, immature, and uninteresting. The episodes start off with such creative ideas that have high potential to be interesting and involving throughout, but it is destroyed by poor acting, and really rubbish scripting, dialogues, lines, etc. Seriously? It feels like a really small child's storybook is being read out loud, that is how the scripting is done. It's so unnatural, it's like, don't the actors hear how stupid they sound? Can't they make it natural like normal people talking? Nothing flows smoothly in this because of that, scenes are just choppy and forced, the editing is not natural, smooth at all, and that makes this show so rubbish. The whole idea of time travelling was so promising and they managed to show two distinct personalities for the two 'best friends', yet their acting is so crappy and their dialogues are so absolutely stupid that they can't develop themselves or the story at all. It's like events are forcefully happening. And the irritating voice of Barry is just unbearable, as if he's on a kid's science show, demonstrating experiments happily with a never-dying excited voice. It's like he's giving a pitch the entire time. And the Naldo character is just so odd, strange, and unexplained. He appears really weird and strange, yet he's apparently supposed to be the 'very liked' person. For instance, there is no explanation of why everyone gives him milk, whereas Barry only receives one. The episode where Cyd turns into a 'werewolf' could have been so exciting, but it was again ruined by stupid acting. Especially by Shelby who has the WORST most PATHETIC acting ever seen on a sitcom. She shows no real relationship with her 'best friend for life'. The fakeness is too much to bear and nothing she says is convincing, either through her words, voice, or expression. Just clutching each other's faces don't demonstrate friendship or strong sisterhood. They have to show it and look like they feel it. There is no build up of anything when Cyd is a werewolf and needs to turn back into a human. She just suddenly and randomly does, it's like everything is rushed through, and everyone talks in a fake, plastic voice. Cyd is still a better actor and I don't blame her for the rubbish lines she gets. It's like the show is made for 4 year old children, the very make and editing of it is the way 4 year old children's shows are made. This is the case with mostly all Disney channel shows, for some odd reason. Ideas might be really good but are executed so poorly that they cannot be watched. I've tried seeing so many episodes of this show and couldn't stand through them, they were so irritating they leave you feeling annoyed instead of intrigued. So the actual STORIES are interesting, but this isn't a book, but a show, and it is shown really rubbishly. Definitely a 3/10, the three points being only for the stories and raw ideas.

Don't waste your time on this hunk of garbage!
Warning: Spoilers
This show is one of the most horrible Disney shows I've ever sat through in my entire life. It's not funny or entertaining in the slightest. It's incoherent, it's stupid, it's unoriginal, it's boring and OBNOXIOUS. It's a 6-year-old parody of The Big Bang Theory (which is a sitcom I really enjoy). Watching these characters feels like a form of psychological torment. Cyd and Shelby are annoying, Bret and Chet are painfully irritating brats, Barry is a smartass but the worst of all- NALDO. Naldo is just a non-funny, more annoying, smartass clone of Dez from Austin & Ally (Seriously, watch that instead. It's way better and won't make you want to slam your head against a brick wall). The guy aggravates me to the point where I just want to beat him until he's unconscious. On top of the painfully aggravating characters, the writing is lazy (Seriously were the writers drunk or something?) and it's a ripoff of Girl Meets World (which already was a deplorable show to begin with). Do I recommend this show? NO. It would be better to be in the stockade in the pouring rain than watch this show.

Most Boring Time Travelers Ever
Warning: Spoilers
With the ability to travel all of time and space (they can tele-port) you think they would take a hint from Doctor Who and have exciting adventures. The two girls who gain time travel abilities in this show decide to use their time travel gift on the most mundane of trips. Examples include:
1. Going back in time to pick up a jacket. 2. Going back in time to do a dance in sixth grade. 3. Jumping forward to steal an exam in order to cheat. 4. Going back and forth in time to get the perfect gift.
All in all these are the worst time travelers ever. Not only are they selfish with their time travel ability (something I hate for some reason), they also are boring.

Great idea! But they ruined it...
Warning: Spoilers
I've always loved the idea of time travel, and a sitcom on it could've been amazing. I mean just imagine the adventures. So the show is about these two teenage girls who have to struggle with school and their friendships with the power to time travel. The only way they travel time is by touching each other and thinking about the time they want to travel to. You'd think amazing right...? Eh...
1. When I heard about a time traveling show, I thought, "Mr. Peabody, Sherman and their amazing adventures!" Nope. Some boring teenage girls and their high school problems. Woohoo... Seeing dinosaurs? See how the world ends? Nope. Going back in time to see two girls get the dream boys is more interesting than dinosaurs and flying cars.
2. Well the opportunity of amazing adventures is out the window, but comedy should be the best right...? If you find stuff like stuff like turtles who pass gas gum bubbles hilarious, then you found your show!
3. The plot makes no sense.
4. Too many characters are stupidly dumb and that's all I have to say.

Despite its flaws, it is a pretty solid show with a concept I really enjoyed
Best Friends Whenever is a Disney Channel show about two best friends who get the ability to time travel. The way their abilities work is when they touch each other and think of a time they "jump" into their bodies from that time(unless they travel outside of their lifetime). They don't use this power to become superheroes but instead just mess around with it. They used this power to order a pizza 45 minutes earlier so they don't have to wait. They go back in time a few years to eat a burrito that was banned when they were seventh schoolers. They time travel to get back at a classmate that's insulting them. This form of time travel is refreshing because it allows for a very character focused show. The main characters have been friends since kindergarten and think they know everything about each other, and their time traveling brings forth things they didn't. It's not a perfect show, it ends up sharing a lot of problems many other disney channel shows have regarding cliches and cheesy dialogue. But despite that it's still a pretty unique show that is different from a lot of other time travel shows in a good way, and I hope we get more time travel shows like this one.

The plot's pretty cool, but..
Warning: Spoilers
I think the plot's pretty cool, but if they tried to make a bigger effort that would've really helped. I think the two main characters of the show, Cyd and Shelby come off as rather dumb and uninteresting. Of course, it's kind of cool that they have time travel. But, it's just the common 'good girl' and 'bad girl' duo you see in normal Disney channels. All in all, it's fun just settling in down and watching an average Disney show with over-reactions and laugh tracks in parts where it's not funny. Pretty average Disney show.

Complete waste of time
Warning: Spoilers
I was bored one night and decided to watch this show. I wasted my time. The acting was bad, the script was bad, the directing was bad, everything was bad. Here are some things that really bothered me.
1 - Their use of time travel. They have the ability to time travel by just bumping their hips (dumb) or touching each other and thinking of a time. They have such an amazing power and can do so much with it. I know that it's a kid's show and all but, really? They go to cheat on an 8th (maybe 9th) grade test? Idiotic and selfish.
2 - The acting. There is not ONE good actor on this show. The acting is cheesy and just not believable.
3 - The jokes. Were there even any jokes in this show? Because if there was, they were so unfunny that I can't even remember that there was one.
4 - The characters. So unlikable and the main girls have such a lack of personality it's boring to watch.
5 - Unrealistic. The effects are cringe-worthy, these preteen non- related girls somehow live together, adults are nowhere to be found (from what I saw) other than the teacher, and these children have a lab? How? Why? Like I said before, unrealistic.
Overall, this show is crappy, and if you want a quality TV show to watch, don't waste your time with this one.

It's Really Fake
Warning: Spoilers
Best Friends Whenever is about to girls that can time travel with just a touch of a hand. Many things go wrong in the serious. Unfortunately, everything goes wrong in the series.
1)All there jokes a super crappy! Like when Cyd and Shelby went back in time just to go repeat something that one of them said. It's a complete waist of time! There could be other things that the two girls can do instead of repeating something.
2)The two twins, (I can't even remember their names) are really confusing and useless. Just like in the latest new episode. The twins get their minds switch from a machine on accident. This can cause this current episode to be really confusing. I mean I still didn't even no there names before they got switched. Now when the two minds get switched I now just had a Migrant headache! 3)My last reason is that I feel like that the series is getting way into the conclusion. Every episode always ends up with something that gets deeper into the story. Like really it makes it seem like there is only going to be at least 12 episodes. If your going to make the story a shock, make sure that it's actually a shocker. No offense to most people that like BFW . But, if you like this then you have no taste in good shows. Sooner or later if there going to keep making episodes like this. There going to run out of idea's My advice is to not watch BTW, Unless you really enjoy vomiting.

Amazing
This is one of the best of the newer Disney channel show. It had an amazing plot lines and interesting characters except chet and bret as they were so annoying but they didn't remove the enjoyment and the special effects were so good for a Disney channel show I enjoyed it better than Jessie, Crash and Bernstein and a lot more. I wish it had another season.

More Than You Would Expect
Really this is a show that will probably give you a bit of a surprise. The premise is quite simple: Best Friends Cyd and Shelby, following an accident in their friend Barry's lab, allows them to travel through time by touching the other and thinking of a time period. Cue wacky hijinks .
So far it sounds pretty familiar and sure enough, upon first sight Best Friends Whenever appears to be nothing more than another of your standard Disney high concept teen shows, light hearted and harmless fun sure, but nothing to special or memorable.
But really, keep watching and you'll be surprised. This show is a lot deeper and more complex than it first seems, the level of thought the writers have actually put into the concept of time travel is more than you would expect. Good examples of this are the episodes "The Butterscotch Effect" and "Shake Your Booty" Both of which take a good look at two questions that probably will emerge in you're minds after the first few episodes.
Likewise this show also maintains a concise story arc, a subtle but strong continuity and a pretty intriguing driving question.
The show also benefits from a cast who effortlessly play off each other. The chemistry between the main characters is organic and feels realistic, the bonds between them feel realistic. Likewise the four main characters are well balanced, likable and entertaining.
Now that's not to say this is perfect, like to many other's of its type it falls into the trap of a superfluous annoying younger sibling (or siblings in this case). Likewise not all the humour hits exactly the right mark, and its pretty clear that everyone is still getting used to this so for the first few episodes. Still none of these flaws feel like anything worse than what can be ironed out with a bit of experience.
All in all, I would recommend giving it a try. It really is cut above your average Disney teen show.

Good idea gone down a hill
This show started out good. I was really looking forward to it. It was a good idea. I liked the first episode. However after this the show really goes downhill. The characters are very unfunny. They also slam the idea of "Best friends are always there for you" theme over and over on your head. It's so annoying. Episode 2 there was a scene when the 2 girls were explaining something to the other 2 boys. One of the girls says something and the other says "I was going to say that." then "Let's go back so you can say it!" and then "Na you nailed it" "let's go back since that was sweet". Seriously? That was the cheesiest piece of crap I've ever heard and seen in my life. I liked the idea but this show got annoying and very cringe worthy fast. All the episodes have a very predictable plot and it's just plain silly!

Ep.1-13 are Trash! After that it gets better and Better...
As long as you don't judge this show by the first 1/2 season, it just may be worthy of your watch list. Don't worry, the awful characters Bret & Chet fade into obscurity (excepting occasional eps. like s02e08). I wouldn't wish any show made by the people who created the first 1/2 season upon my worst enemies. Of course, the very first episode is the origin story, so you may wish to survive it by keeping the fast-forward button at the ready. I'm enjoying this show now in season two; 'good enough to DVR new episodes. And, I suppose it was okay for them to briefly bring Diesel back to temporarily prominence in the Halloween episode. Now, I no longer cringe at horrible attempts at comedy, or roll my eyes in dismay while contemplating changing the channel. If you give the later episodes a try then you just may agree...
